Welcome to the Ultra-fast Photonics pages. Our work is devoted to photonic devices and systems that work at high speeds.

Device work includes :

• microwave bandwidth quantum-confined Stark effect optical modulators,
• rapidly tuneable semiconductor lasers,
• ps recovery time quantum well saturable absorbers, and
• THz bandwidth optical comb generators.

 

Systems work includes :

• broadband optical access systems using microwave and millimetre-wave over fibre technologies,
• optical analogue to digital converters,
• optical regenerators and wavelength converters for 10 Gb/s and above,
• wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) optical transmission systems, and
• uncooled WDM systems using optical frequency synthesis.
