Photonics Systems Development
This is a four year programme that has a Masters of Research (MRes) degree as its first year, followed by three years of PhD study
The University of Cambridge and University College London (UCL) have recently established an exciting new Doctoral Training Centre in Photonic Systems Development, leveraging their current strong collaborations in research and innovation. The Centre provides doctoral training using expertise drawn from a range of disciplines including: Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Civil Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, Computer Science, Physics, Medical Physics, Nanotechnology, Bioengineering/Biotechnology and Business. It will collaborate closely with a wide range of UK industries and uses innovative teaching and learning techniques. This new form of Doctoral Centre, it is believed, will create graduates with the skills and confidence able to drive future technology research, development and exploitation, as photonics becomes fully embedded in electronics-based systems applications ranging from communications to sensing, industrial manufacture and biomedicine.
