Innovative Entrepreneurial Training

For UCL Engineering PhDs and Postdocs

An innovative entrepreneurial training course for PhDs and Postdocs working in ICT across UCL Engineering has been recognised by NEMODE, an RCUK-funded 'Network-Plus' connecting top-level research with trail-blazing digital technology firms. The course, taught by enterprise experts Dr Clive Poole (UCL Electronic and Electrical Engineering) and Dr Daniel Hulme (UCL Computer Science), was held in May and attended by over 30 early career researchers. The intensive 3 day training programme was highly interactive with business planning in teams and 'Dragon's Den' style pitches. The course received excellent feedback from attendees as shown in the video below:

The course was funded by the EPSRC Impact Acceleration scheme at UCL called BITE (Breakthrough Information Technology Exchange). BITE is chaired by Professor Izzat Darwazehand a team of academics and business development managers from UCL EEE and CS.

Nemode will now fund the next run of the BITE Enterprise Training Workshop which is due to take place in March 2015. Current PhDs and postdocs interested in attending the next course should contact Dr Ryan Grammenos, BITE Facilitator (r.grammenos@ucl.ac.uk).
