Joint EMANICS, AutoI, Self-Net Workshop on Autonomic Management
April 28-29, 2009
University College London, United Kingdom
Sponsored by the EC IST-EMANICS Network of Excellence (#26854)

Scope
The autonomic management workshop is bringing together researchers from three communities - the EMANICS FP6 NoE, and the AutoI and Self-Net FP7 programmes - to present and discuss their respective challenges and potential solutions. This event follows the first successful workshop which was hosted by the Technical University of Catalonia in May 2008. The theme of the workshop will be focusing on the role of autonomics in the management of the much debated Future Internet (FI). This will allow the participants to engage in discussions about the management requirements of the FI as well as architectural, technological and design issues that need to be addressed so that autonomic management functionality can be realised.
We believe that this meeting will be highly beneficial for all three communities. AutoI will have the opportunity to share its views on building a new architecture for the Future Internet and portray how this architecture can relate to and drive standardization efforts. Self-Net will be able to present the project objectives and the proposed innovative paradigm based on cognitive self-managed elements for the Future Internet. Finally, this workshop will help EMANICS fulfill its dissemination objectives and further improve the visibility of the work on autonomic management; it will also facilitate a better integration with a wider community. Subjects of interest for discussion include but are not restricted to the following:
- Self-Managing Frameworks and Architectures
- Knowledge Management
- Information Modelling and Ontology Design
- Policy-based Management and Policy Analysis
- Service Composability and Deployment
- Semantic Analysis and Reasoning Technologies
- Resource Virtualization
- Self-Managed Networks
- Orchestration Techniques
- Context-Awareness and Management
- Cognitive Self-management Functions
- Test-bed Evaluation of Self-* Capabilities
Submission of Work
We invite AUTOI, Self-Net, and EMANICS participants, as well as people from other communities to provide a short summary of the work they would like to present/discuss by Friday, 27 March 2009. This should include a title, the names and affiliation of the authors, an introductory paragraph to put the work in context, and the set of questions or items that the presenter would like to address. Selected presentations will be allocared a time slot of 20 minutes presentation and 10 minutes of open discussion. The presentation slides will be made available on this web page.
Registration
The workshop is open to the public. However, all participants are kindly asked to register for this workshop. Registration is free and the deadline is Wednesday 15 April 2009.
