Optical Networks Group
Our ability to explore fundamental physics of new optoelectronic devices through to high-speed optical systems and networks research is a particular strength, and unique among UK universities.
Research
High-speed Transmission systems and Network architectures: combining DSP and fibre propagation with dynamic and intelligent routing and control in optical systems ranging from interconnects and access to wide area networks.
Laboratory Facilities
With an optical fibre recirculating loop test-bed and a comprehensive signal generation and detection capability we are able to generate and receive complex modulation formats at rates of up to 40Gbaud and transmit over distances exceeding 30,000km.
Working with us
We are a 20 strong team working on next generation communication systems in the heart of London. We currently have openings for postdoctoral researchers and fully-funded PhD students.
