Research Associate Dr Lidia Galdino joins the ONG
While at UCL she will be working on the UNLOC project, focusing on the study of advanced modulation formats, and their effectiveness in maximising spectral efficiency over long-distance transmission. She will consider the use of optimised constellations in achieving this goal.
Dr Galdino was awarded her PhD in electrical engineering from the University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Brazil, in 2012. Her PhD research involved the investigation of a new all-optical four-wave mixing (FWM) based techniques to convert and regenerate on-off keyed (OOK) and differential phase-shift keying (DPSK) signals into incoherently optical code division multiple access (OCDMA) signals. She focused on the format conversion with simultaneous regeneration of signals crossing the borders between metropolitan area and access networks.
