2013 Marconi Society Paul Baran Young Scholar

Many congratulations to PhD student Domanic Lavery from the Optical Networks Group, who has received a prestigious award from the Marconi Society.

The 2013 Marconi Society Paul Barran Young Scholar Award recognises academic achievements and leadership in the field of communications and information science. Domanic is supervised by Dr Seb Savory and Professor Polina Bayvel and will shortly be submitting his thesis.

The award committee recognised Domanic’s outstanding work in coherent passive optical networks (PONs) for access applications, his excellent academic record and evident dedication to the improvement of society through his work.

The award will be conferred at the Marconi Society Awards Dinner in Bologna, Italy on October 1, 2013.
