2008 Research Assessment Exercise Results

The Department has again demonstrated its excellence in research in the results of the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) that have been published today (see Of those Departments which entered 30 or more of their academic staff for assessment of their research only one other Electronic and Electrical Engineering Department in the UK achieved a higher percentage of research in the top 4* category of "Research of quality that is world-leading in terms of originality, significance and rigour". Head of Department, Professor Alwyn Seeds, said "I am delighted to see that, as in previous RAEs, the excellence of the Department's research as measured by the highest international standards has been recognised. The Department submitted the work of all its academic staff for the 2008 RAE, so the outcome is a true measure of the quality of the entire Department's work."
