Flextronics: The Intelligence of Things
Jeannine Sargent, President of Innovation and New Ventures at Flextronics, one of the world’s leading supply chain solutions companies and a speaker at the recent World Economic Forum, will give the 2015 Barlow Lecture on the ‘Intelligence of Things™’ at global research powerhouse, University College London (UCL). Sargent will discuss the revolution in technology occurring as we enter the “Intelligence Age”which will lead to an expected 50 billion smart and connected devices with embedded intelligence generating over 13 trillion Euros in economic value by the end of the decade.
Embedding intelligence into a wide range of products and devices in the form of sensors, software, processing, along with connectivity to other devices and the cloudis enabling entirely new functionality and more applications than ever possible before. “It is really changing the way that we live, work and play and will disrupt every business and value chain that we know today,”says Sargent.

In her role, Sargent oversees Flextronics’ technology and innovation labs, including the Lab IX accelerator program, design and engineering centres and new venture investments. She and her team are known for bringing solutions to market in a new ‘era of intelligence’ that transform traditional product development processes and business models.
On Monday, May 18,Sargent will deliver the prestigious UCL Barlow Memorial Lecture 2015 in front of academics and industrialists in London on the topic. She will explore the market and technology trends that are driving IoT and opportunities that require technology talent of the future to help solve some of the world’s biggest challenges. She will describe how companies in industries as varied as healthcare, automotive and consumer devices are adapting to this technology revolution and bringing a new set of smart and connected solutions to market.
