Electronic Engineering with Nanotechnology MEng

bullet point 4 years bullet point UCAS Code: H615 bullet point UCL UCAS Code: UCL U80

The programme provides a solid grounding in Electronic Engineering along with specialisation in Nanotechnology. It makes use of UCL's pivotal position as hosts of the London Centre for Nanotechnology, to provide access to state-of-the art laboratory facilities and teaching from experts in the field. This MEng forms part of a range of Nanotechnology activities at UCL, including taught and research postgraduate programmes, conducted in a centre of expertise in this exciting new discipline. In the third and fourth years students pursue a study plan that builds on the first two mandatory years and in which they are able to specialise and contains 1 unit of individual project (third year) and 1.5 units of team project (fourth year), both mandatory, plus a choice from a set of core and optional courses from electronics, Nanotechnology, computing, medical physics, communications and management. The balance of options and core courses in the third and fourth year is biased towards Nanotechnology courses.

The aim of the course is to provide students with a firm foundation in traditional electronics along with specialisation in the rapidly-developing field of Nanotechnology - thus giving graduates the opportunity to work in both established fields of electronics and the fascinating new branch of Nanotechnology.

This programme includes an individual third-year project, and a major, industrially-linked, group design project in the final year which will typically be in a subject closely related to nanotechnology.

All the degree programmes have a common first and second year which cover material fundamental to Electronic and Electrical Engineering. Students specialise in their third and fourth years according to individual degree programme and it is possible for students to switch between programmes (with the exception of the International Programme) at any time up to the end of their second year.
