Many congratulations to EEE Undergraduate Joe Smith has just been awarded the UK's top postgraduate award, a Kennedy Scholarship, after an interview in front of a panel of 9 top academics and industrialists. The Kennedy Scholarship is an academic award for study at two of the world's finest universities - Harvard and MIT. It can be used to fund a wide variety of programmes at MIT and across all the graduate schools within Harvard. Joe is very excited about going to do a PhD at a top US university.
Joe said: "I've had an excellent time in this department thanks to the exciting research I've been able to undertake and the strong support of academics here. After four years at UCL, it will be amazing to continue my education in America."
Joe's academic supervisor at UCL Professor Richard Jackman said "Joe is a very talented Engineer, one of the best I have ever had the privilege to supervise. His third year project took him to the "Science, Engineering and Technology' finals, one of only three selected from throughout Europe", now he has been awarded this prestigious Scholarship to study at MIT. The department looks forward to watching his star rise to shine brightly in the Engineering firmament"
