When designing complex systems, care must be taken to hide complexity from the end-user. All the functions offered should be accessible in a straightforward and friendly way, without the need for detailed knowledge of the system architecture. This requires special attention in the context of TMN owing to the complexity of both managed and managing systems.

This chapter describes some of the issues which the project encountered and addressed during the design and implementation of three TMN Human Computer Interfaces (HCI) which form part of the ICM Testbed.
