Lidia Galdino listed as one of Top 50 Women in Engineering

Dr Galdino is one of the UK's top women in engineering, 2017

The Telegraph, in association with the Women’s Engineering Society has listed Dr Lidia Galdino, UCL Optical Networks Group, as one of the Top 50 Women in Engineering 2017.

The announcement of the list coincides with International Women in Engineering Day on Friday 23 June. The list also forms part of a supplement of The Daily Telegraph published on Saturday 24 June. You can view the full list on the WES website.

Dr Galdino said: “I would like to extend my appreciation to The Daily Telegraph and the Women’s Engineering Society for this recognition of my professional achievements. I have worked diligently to progress my career and, with the invaluable mentoring support I have received, I am now firmly on the path to successfully becoming a leading engineer in my own right. I wish to express my deepest gratitude to my hero, and mentor, Professor Polina Bayvel, whose guidance has helped me at each stage of my career.”

Nominations this year were open to all women working in the sector in Britain aged 35 and under. The initiative aims to shine a spotlight on future female leaders in engineering in the UK and to help increase the number of young people choosing careers in engineering.

Last year’s list included women of any age and featured a wide range of extraordinary women from academics to industry leaders to Members of Parliament to television presenters. This makes Lidia’s achievement all the more impressive. Congratulations Lidia!
