New research grant: Lloyd's Register Foundation ICON PhD studentship

pi-lab receives an International Consortium of Nanotechnologies (ICON) studentship from Lloyd's Register Foundation.

pi-lab jointly with Dr Manish Tiwari from the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Prof. Ivan Parkin from the Department of Chemistry at UCL have received an International Consortium of Nanotechnologies (ICON) studentship from Lloyd's Register Foundation. The grant will support one PhD student to work on the project "Nanoengineered Smart Surfaces".  During this project, we will introduce an entirely new class of precise nanoengineered surfaces for passive, energy efficient manipulation of liquid repellence, water condensation, ice-nucleation and of optical properties. Our ambition is for the proposed surfaces to improve the energy efficiency of industrial processes, transport vehicles, such as automobiles, planes and ships, as well as of the built environment.
