The 2009 Barlow Memorial Lecture and Research Open Day will be held at UCL on Friday 3rd April. The lecture, entitled “Problems Solved and Unsolved Problems in Photonics” is to be given by Professor David Payne, FRS, CBE. Prof Payne is the Director of the Optoelectronics Research Centre (ORC) at the University of Southampton and the inventor of the Erbium Doped Fibre Amplifier for which he was nominated as a finalist for 2008 Millennium Technology Prize.
The Research Open Day offers postgraduate students and researchers the opportunity to present posters describing their research work to a wider audience.
The Open Day and Lecture are both by invitation only, with places limited.
