Phased array radar techniques for marine navigation and port handling
This project concerns the investigation of radar techniques relevant to short/medlum range marine navigation and port handling applications.
In particular, the research is intended to focus on phased array radar, especially MIMO, at frequencies of 9.2 GHz or 24 GHz, in which we already have some expertise. A linear MIMO array, with switching of the transmit and/or receive elements, is particularly suited to this application in view of the need for only short/medium range operation.
Other techniques and a range of array topologies will also be considered as part of this project.
The work is performed in collaboration with and part-funded by Guidance Microwave Ltd, in conjunction with a UCL Impact Award.
