PhD Work Appears in the New Edition of Popular Reference Book on Antenna Theory.
Work pursued by Dr Arnold McKinley, Teaching Fellow in the EE department, during his PhD appears in the latest 4th Edition of a well-known antenna reference book. Professor Constantine A. Balanis' “Antenna Theory: Analysis and Design” is used by many professional antenna designers worldwide. It is also used as a basic textbook in many senior undergraduate and postgraduate level programmes.
The book features Dr McKinley’s work with loop and ring antennas at radio and microwave frequencies. The book also includes MATLAB programmes he has written, spanning all frequency regimes to the Infrared. Dr McKinley said “High Q, efficient antennas are increasingly important for the future of communications, in particular when the internet of things becomes commonplace. I am pleased that Dr. Balanis considers this work useful for his audience.” Dr McKinley is currently supervising third year undergraduate projects using ring antennas in the TeraHertz region.
