  • Departmental Reception duties and first point of contact in the Departmental Office.
  • Responsible for post and parcel distribution and sending of courier packages.
  • Responsible for booking catering and rooms for Departmental events and meetings.

  • Responsible for arranging departmental printing, including Undergraduate lectures notes.

Rob leads the development of EEE’s strategy in relation to Industry and Enterprise, this includes:

  • Developing opportunities and structures for external partners to engage with the department.
  • Raising the prominence and benefit of University-External Partner engagement both internally and within National, EU and International arenas.
  • Supporting the development of Strategic Relationships.
  • Working with academics to deliver industry focused activities, workshops and exploratory projects.
  • Ensuring the department remains up-to-date with industries’ priorities that pertain to departmental activities across research and teaching.

  • Provides the department’s Strategic Alliances Director with high-level administrative support for managing the engagement of staff at all levels with the department’s industry partners

  •  To manage a range of instruments in the EEE department’s nanotechnology teaching laboratory.
  • To provide technical and safety support to research projects requiring the nanotechnology facilities.

  • To implement and enforce an equipment training regime and safety induction process for all laboratory users

Tom Hamer

  • Assist with the design of precision parts using latest Cad modelling technology
  • Manufacture of items using Latest CNC technology to a high  precision in a variety of materials
  • Assist with the design and manufacture of 3D printable items for students and academics for teaching and research (from late 2019)
  • Assist the department with any minor issues with the Infrastructure of labs and offices
  • Liaise with other departments that may require our assistance with design and manufacture of research equipment

  • Leads a new team within the department’s technical group, working in our research laboratories and postgraduate teaching facilities.
  • Responsible for managing shared department research facilities and ensuring these are run effectively and efficiently. 
  • Acts as experimental officer for some our key shared research equipment.
  • Offers support and advise to the technical services manager in standardising safety and lab management processes across all research areas in the department.

  • Provide assistance and advice for printed circuit board designs and layout.
  • Manufacture of through hole plated Printed Circuited Boards, multi-layer PCBs (4-6 layers) and flexible circuits.
  • Lasered  RF-boards using our LPKF U3 laser (sub 100 micron features)
  • Lasered solder paste masks for solder screen printing.
  • Electronic component assembly techniques.
