Cisco Interns

UCL is ranked in among the 20 best universities in the world for the employability of its graduates in the 2018 QS Employability Rankings

UCL Electronic and Electrical Engineering students have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of internships within industry. These can range from summer internships during their summer break to year-long internships both in the UK or overseas which you would apply for in the penultimate year of your BEng or MEng degree. Alongside your degree from UCL, internships can help give your CV the competitive edge, improving your employability skills and giving you early access to future employers. You will also get a salary from the company offering the internship.

We are delighted to be able to give our undergraduate students an opportunity to apply for the Cisco International Internship Programme (CIIP) which allows students to spend a year working for Cisco Systems at Cisco's Headquarters in San Jose, California. Cisco only offer this opportunity to very few universities globally. Our students at Cisco have found that a year's degree related work has given them real business experience, increased their motivation and helped set them up for life with contacts, experience and opportunities.

You can read about the experience of our current interns at Cisco in California here:

Cisco also run a mentoring programme for undergraduate and postgraduate students in the department involving termly meetings with Cisco employees to help students to develop their transferable skills and increase their employability. For more information speak to Tim Bodley-Scott, Business Development Manager.
