WEEK 12: 11/12/96: LOGICA BAMBOOZLERS 3 COMPUTER CENTRE FC 5

CCFC made their league intensions clear today with a result against league leaders BAM. This brings them within two points of BAM with two games in hand see the Table for details.

The game couldn't have started better with Walsh latching on to a slow back pass and slotting the ball home. Not content with this start Walsh added another within a minute, settling the nerves of his team-mates but doing the opposite to BAM. Walsh continued to cause trouble to BAM throughout the first half and after having a crack at goal Hajisavvi pounced on the richoched ball and sent it slamming into the back of the goal. BAM's attempts at scoring were thwarted by good marking and a good double act at the back between Ayling and Landers. The latter was standing in for CCFC's TWO injured keepers and was beaten once in the first half by a shot rebounded of the wall.

The half time whistle gave BAM a pause for a brief breath and they came out fighting in the second half. The game continued in a strong but never malicious fashion and each side offered the respect they deserved. Ayling was first to claim a goal in the second half when he sent a shot hurtling down the pitch, leaving the 'keeper no chance. This spurned another BAM onslaught and eventually it paided off with a goal that only the assistant referee saw. CCFC were too wrapped up in the game to complain and Walsh made the only answer necessary by completing his hat-trick. BAM pulled another back after Landers gave the ball away but it did little to unsettle CCFC who held on relatively comfortably.

CCFC: Scott Landers, Paul Ayling(9), Paul Hajisavvi(6), Simon Walsh(1,2,12)
