WEEK 32: 11/6/97: RESULTS:With a one point lead and BAM playing the bottom side later on CCFC had to deliver the goods to keep their title aspirations alive. GEOG are very much the Sheffield Wednesday of the league who spread their results evenly over wins, draws and losses. It was GEOG who took the lead when a pass played off the wall left Hajisavvi in a tizzy and the GEOG striker took full advantage. Banks leveled matters in the same minute with a hopeful shot off the wall, GEOG's 'keeper seemed suprised the soft shot even made to the goal and it crept in through his dispairing hands. The game tightened up with GEOG having more of the breakthroughs, but with half a minute to go, Heagney threw the ball along the line for Hajisavvi to turn and place it in the bottom left of goal.
GEOG scored nearly straight away after the break as Hajisavvi miss controlled and his error saw the ball pummelled home under Heagney. To make a means Hajisavvi returned the complement when he slotted the ball behind GEOG's 'keeper from a loose ball. His insistence on being involved with every goal be it for his side or not saw Hajisavvi deflect a shot in in the tenth minute making it 3 - 3. Walsh, a half time sub for Banks, bundled in a bouncing shot to mark his return from a two week absence and Ayling cleared matters up after a fine run from Hajisavvi when he blasted the fifth goal home.
BAM may have considered this game points in the bag, not an uneducated guess but they weren't prepared for a SOAS side who doubled their work rate. Shots on goal were few and far between in the first half while SOAS marked admirably and were even playing a few nifty passes. The half time horn blew with BAM 1 - 0 down after Gaz had played Justin through to neatly place the ball in the bottom right.
Two subs for SOAS at half time meant the fresh legs could keep up the pressure even if the marking left much to be desired. A SOAS attack was broken up a few minutes into the second half only to land at Landers' feet who then dutifully shot into the top left of goal to make it 2 - 0. The CCFC team watching seemed somewhat pleased with the proceedings, but then they saw a good comeback by BAM as they started to take advantage of SOAS's increasingly lapse marking. Abbott scored twice with only the 'keeper saving magnificently in between the goals keeping the score even. The second of his goals was squeezed in from the tightest of angles but SOAS had already done enougth to share the points.
SOBEK have found some form of late and UCLH without their recently aquired goal-getter looked easy prey on paper. But a first half battle ensued which both sides scored evenly. SOBEK scored first when a free kick in the third minute was eventually smashed home from the half way line. Two minutes later UCLH equalised when a shot off the wall beat SOBEK's 'keeper.
SOBEK started in a higher tempo after the break and in the first minute a smart run was finished with a shot into the bottom left of goal. Slightly shell-shocked UCLH looked disorientated and two minutes later a classy one - two saw SOBEK's lead increased. The pressure continued and only a minute later a forth was added which was repeated again the next minute. UCLH gritted their teeth and pulled one back and their late pressure could'nt salvage much after the SOBEK onslaught.
