WEEK 34: 25/6/97: RESULTS:

Computer Centre FC 4 Logica Bamboozlers 2

CCFC clinched the title in the season's biggest game. BAM were the only team who could still prevent CCFC from the prize in a match where the win was worth four points. It has been a great contest between the two teams with no animosity between them, BAM could point to the problems of having an inconsistent squad and the loss of Ollie so early in the season didn't help matters. But they kept up the pressure so well done to them.

The match started at a frenetic pace and it was BAM who took the lead early on with a goal by Abbott. The shot caught Heagney of guard as it passed out of the crowd before him and could do little about the precise shot. Some tight play and good pressure saw CCFC level it a few minutes later when Walsh shot low. Then Abbott added another to the score sheet and CCFC looked to be in a tough situation as half time came and went.

The pace continued after the break and BAM looked poised to grab a third untill Walsh, CCFC's top scorer stole an equaliser. With the deficit gone CCFC played with more confidence and BAM couldn't deal with the pressure Walsh completed his hat-trick and then Hajisavvi took the lead to two goals, Ayling almost added his own name to the scoresheet had he not entered the 'keeper's area. A deserved victory and a deserved championship, however next year things are going to be a lot tougher considering the improvement of teams throughout the league this season.
