WEEK 30: 27/5/97: RESULTS:Cup magic weaves its mystic web again. At least something had to be poetic today as the football certainly wasn't. The elusive treble has again slipped away from CCFC's grasp in a game of muscle over mind.
CCFC looked their usuall sleepy selves at kick off whilst ZOO put themselves about. After 2 minutes the pressure paid its way as the ZOO player turned and shot, the ball deflected off Hajisavvi into the bottom right. Only Heagney's butt stopped a goal a minute latter, when the ball was put through his legs it hit his bum and bounced off the cross bar. A neat flick off in the 4th minute saw the ball rocketed home into the top right for 2 - 0. The following minute a ZOO player unleashed a hopeful shot from his half only to find Heagney off sited and the score 3 - 0. CCFC still hadn't woken up and appeared to be waiting for divine intervention to help out in matters. God obviously had more important things to concentrate on as in the seventh minute the ZOO man bullied his way past Banks and put the ball under a diving Heagney. A now almost comatose defence allowed ZOO yet another goal in the same minute and ZOO finished the first half's scoring in the eighth minute when a turn and shoot move again caught Heagney off guard to make it 6 - 0.
Ayling found his voice atthe interval and started using his physical pressence to block any attempts on goal, Heagney still had to make a good save on the line in the 12th minute. Ayling then latched on to a loose ball and fired home to make it 6 - 1. In the same minute Banks added another with a cross goal shot. CCFC continued with their pushy tactics and Hajisavvi added two more goals in the 5th minute to add some hope for their game. ZOO were beginning to buckle under the pressure but CCFC quickly ran out of ideas and a 17th minute ZOO goal from the edge of the area packed up any hopeful come back ideas.
