WEEK 3: 25/9/96 GEOG 1 CCFC 5, attendance: 18
CCFC now have two wins under their belts after a clumsy derby game with GEOG.
The game started off without a touch for GEOG as Hajisavvi left them to pick
the ball out of the goal. Walsh weighed in with a quick hatrick to match an
impressive performance. However it must be said that many chances were
squandered and not just because of some stalwart goalkeeping on GEOG's
keeper's part.
The second half was played somewhat frantically with neither side achieving
any clear passing pattern. But chances came thick and fast via constant
mistakes, unfortunately CCFC's finishing matched GEOG's erratic defending and
only produced one goal. The goal crowned an excellent performance at the back
from Ayling with his trade mark "rocket" shot a minute after Walsh was
substituted.
The defensive side of CCFC's game is showing great strength with only one goal
conceded in two games. Walsh's new found energy as "middle man" is a great
plus, it may well be due to Neal Christie's shoes! The CCFC manager loaned his
trainers to Walsh and we've witnessed one of his best performances yet. We only
hope to see Hajisavvi find the form which has made him the best
striker in the division for many seasons. It may be worth while though as his
team game has improved excellently, hence the small numbers in the "goals
against" column.
TEAM:Ross Bates, Paul Ayling(11), Paul Hajisavvi(1), Simon Walsh(2,3,4)(Roy
