WEEK 7: 5/11/97: RESULTS:

SOAS 2 - 2 UCL ZOOLOGY

SOAS, without their top scorer looked more organised than ever during a fiesty encounter with ZOO. For the second game running SOAS have given away a two goal lead. Today ZOO barely deserved the draw and it was only achieved by Walsh giving away a penalty. Walsh was hardly the villain as his two goals were a signal of SOAS's greater presense on the pitch. Tite made an excellent debut and caused ZOO many problems with tireless running. A one two between Tite and Walsh saw the latter shoot home, keeper left for dead. Walsham had a shot and Walsh scored with the rebound to make it 2 - 0.

ZOO set about the second half much smarter and piled on the pressure while Weston, a substitute for Tite settled in. It took untill the third minute, when Lerwill threw out to Parsons who promptly scored past him. It was a poor reflection on the good saves he had already made. ZOO, sensing a more open game pushed forward and after a scuffle on the edge of the box, Walsh was deemed to have stepped in the area. Parsons deposited the penalty with power and so the scores remained 2 - 2 to the end.

SOAS: Lerwill, Tite (Weston), Walsh, Walsham
ZOO: Cummings, Brandon, Parsons, Puls

COMPUTER CENTRE FC 3 - 3 UNIVERSITY LONDON UNION

A hard match where ULU probably deserved full points. ULU took the lead when Avery hit a shot that deflected off Banks - wrong footing Heagney. Hajisavvi replied within minutes and both sides looked edgy untill they saw the first half out.

ULU, one of the league's fittest sides, stepped up a gear and soon enougth Ferrell stretched to poke home his sides second. A midfield battle was then staged for the next few minutes, CCFC hit the post, but it was Avery who cracked a stunning goal on a half volley leaving Heagney no chance. With a minute and a half to go it looked like CCFC's first defeat, but not if Bank's had anything to do with it. Hajisavvi did the work down the right, dragging two players with him. His cross saw Banks clear to hit under Strawbridge. Surley too late for a comeback? No. Within 20 seconds Banks' diagonal run finished with a strike of the wall catching Strawbridge unawares and earned CCFC a point.

CCFC: Heagney, Ayling, Banks, Hajisavvi
ULU: Strawbridge, Avery, Ferrell, Tassell

BIRKBECK 4 - 4 SENATE HOUSE ACCOUNTS

BIRK had the chance of going two clear after watching CCFC draw, but instead finished off the trio of score draws. Like CCFC, they were just as fortunate to come away with shared points. BIRK scored first when Tisi chipped up a pass from Card and hit a half volley past a diving Barros. ACCTS replied in the second minute when Backstron poached a goal in an edge of box scramble. Card restored BIRK's lead when he caught Harrington of guard and poked home. Harrington made up for his mistake two minutes later when he thundered a shot from the half way line past Phalp.

The change of ends saw no respite from the frenetic first half as Tisi once again gave BIRK the lead. He shot under Barros after a loose ball found its way to him by the box. Burgiss, who came on for Kettle was unfortunate to steer Backstron's mis-hit shot in his own goal in the same minute. ACCTS then took charge with some precise football and after Gordon's close range effort went wide, Backstron nipped in to gain the lead. This rush of blood must have cost them the game, as they pressed for the kill, the ball found its way to an unmarked Card who dummied a shot, cut the ball to the side and shot past Barros. 4 - 4, it remained.

BIRK: Phalp, Card, Kettle (Burgis), Tisi
ACTTS: Barros, Backstron, Gordon, Harrington
