WEEK 14: 14/01/97: RESULTS:

UCL HOSPITAL 2 - 5 UCL ZOOLOGY

ZOO continue to creep up the league after an indifferent start to the season. UCLH after a fine win against SOBEK last week are back to the drawing board.

Dermas made an early breakthrough for ZOO within the first minute when he battled for the ball by UCLH's box, with a quick turn the shot passed neatly under the keeper. Brandon was quick to follow his team-mates example with a run down the line turning his marker in the corner and as he moved away from goal, poked it between the keeper and the near post. Sharing the spoils, Parsons added his own name to the goal tally with what is starting to become a trade mark goal from him. A quick run from his own box and just before the half way line he unleashes a powerful low drive, this time in the bottom left of goal.

UCLH then fought the rest of the half without conceeding another, but looked on the back foot all the way. When Dermas put Brandon through for his brace in the first minute of the second half, things looked worrying for UCLH. But Sanderson, a player who has improved dramatically in his time in the league, had his usuall say. After spending most of the first half battling for his subdued side (O'Driscoll quietened down after nearly getting booked) Sanderson got two back to take his seasons tally to 10 in the league. Replying a minute after Brandon with a well taken penalty conceeded when Dermas stepped in his own area to gain advantage. In the fifth minute he recovered a loose ball and hit the shot so hard that Cummings could only parry it in.

Another Parson's special went narrowly wide soon after but Dermas was on hand to nick a goal and quash any UCLH revival.

ZOO: Cummings, Brandon, Dermas, Parsons
UCLH: Bowen, O'Driscoll, Pieris, Sanderson

UCL GEOGRAPHY 2 - 2 SOAS

SOAS, for the umpteenth time this season gave a lesson in the art of throwing away a two goal lead. GEOG, who have seen better days in the league, were only too willing to oblige.

GEOG were the team on top in the first half in a scrappy game, where only the two keepers kept the scoreline to zero. Both were pulling saves out of the top drawer with Lerwill of SOAS the busiest.

SOAS swapped Weston for Tite during the break and emmediately stepped up their attack, after two minutes Tite broke the deadlock, beating two men he jinked the ball past a frozen keeper. After the restart Walsh added another, his shot from the half way line stunning GEOG. SOAS could have wrapped it up in the next minute but for the post and a great save from Kernian.

Instead of keeping the pressure up, SOAS tryed to take the pace out of the game. This only saw GEOG pounce back. Walsh got booked for a late tackle, preventing a shooting oportunity for Dobbinson. Rose hit GEOG's first with a long half volley into the top right. SOAS still continued with the safety play and while they appealed for a foul, Dobbinson got Geography's second in the sixth minute.

Dobbinson still had time to get booked for a sliding tackle, but the game ended in a deserved point apiece.

GEOG: Kernian, Dobbinson, Montieth, Rose
SOAS: Lerwill, Walsh, Walsham, Weston (Tite)

COMPUTER CENTRE FC 6 - 0 SENATE HOUSE ACCOUNTS

CCFC reclaimed top spot with an emphatic win against an ACCTS side determined to make life difficault for themselves.

Hajisavvi put in his best performance of the season as CCFC steamrollered into ACCTS. Ayling took this metaphor to task when he received a booking for elbowing Harrington. Hajisavvi was put through soon after and nutmegged the keeper. Banks added another a minute later, looking up on a run and placing it in the bottom right. Ayling did his best to claim the next one but when the keeper thumbled his shot off the wall into his own goal, he unfortunately added his own name to CCFC's scorers.

Early in the first half Ayling was substited for Dyer, but not before sending a thunderous shot the length of the pitch in the top right of ACCTS' goal. Dyer had an early opportunity to get his first of the season, but hit the penalty too softly at the keeper after Shaw had stepped in his box. Hajisavvi then completed his cool display of footwork and hard work when he claimed yet another hat-trick. His second was made after winning the ball by ACCTS' area and hitting it under the keeper. His third saw him reading Cordell's throw out and returning to the back of his net before he could react.

CCFC: Heagney, Ayling (Dyer), Banks, Hajisavvi
ACCTS: Cordell, Gordon, Harrington, Shaw
